MMS Grading System
MID-TRIMESTER ADVISORY NOTICESThe purpose of mid-term advisory notices is to notify both the student and the parent that there is still time for improvement. Parents of students at the Middle School will be advised by means of a progress report if their child's work is in danger of failing for that reporting period. Progress reports will be mailed to the parents of students in danger of failing four weeks before the close of the ranking period. TRIMESTER GRADE REPORTSGrade Reports are a way of keeping parents aware of their child's progress throughout the year. Grade Reports will be sent home four times during the year.
TRIMESTER GRADING SYSTEM (GRADES 5-8) A = 90-100; B = 80-89; C = 70-79; D = 60-69; F = Less than a 59
***2008-09 proposed changes to grading policy*** A = 93-100; B = 85-92; C = 77-84; D = 70-77; F = Less than a 69
**As the year progresses and reports
are sent home, Mr. Towle will follow up for those students that have grades
HOMEWORKHomework is assigned in each of the major subject areas on a regular basis. There are some basic reasons why work is assigned to be completed outside of class. 1. To provide additional practice. 2. To provide independent practice in material that has been covered during the day's class. 3. To provide for in-depth study in topics that may be of specific interest to the student.
Homework Club is available after school from Monday through Thursday until the late bus. Students are asked to remain in the library for the full amount of time.
