Coronavirus Prevention

While Coronavirus may seem a far off threat for us, the CDC is recommending that schools take specific steps to prevent the spread of the disease. With all of the illness floating around right now, these steps are very relevant.  At MMS, the custodians are taking extra care to disinfect places such as door knobs, light switches, and water fountains. All teachers have Clorox wipes and disinfectant spray in their rooms. Classrooms are being wiped down frequently throughout the day. You can be most helpful to us in preventing the spread of illness by keeping students who are sick home. Students with a fever should not come to school, and should only return when they have been fever free for 24 hours without the aid of medication.

CDC Recommended Steps:

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.

  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.

  • Stay home when you are sick.

  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.

  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.

  • If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. Always wash hands with soap and water if hands are visibly dirty.
